Miami Black Tee

This was probably my most well-known photo set from 2016. I was in Miami for the NASCAR race at Homestead when I saw that Magnus Walker was in town. I reached out to him to see if he knew of any cool cars to shoot, and he just said, “Meet me before sunrise at this spot,” and dropped me a pin. That morning was my first time meeting Juan, and I spent hours photographing his stunning Ferrari F40.

We did rolling shots from my rental car, some flybys, and at one point Magnus allegedly hit 135 mph while I was riding shotgun. Sure enough, Miami-Dade Police pulled us over. The officer asked for both of our IDs—Magnus handed over his British passport, and I gave him my California license, even though I wasn’t driving. This was before Magnus became a U.S. citizen, and the car technically didn’t have registration or insurance since it was under Juan’s dealership. Long story short: the cop was not happy, but he let us go with just a warning. Definitely one of those memories I’ll never forget.

I wanted to turn that unforgettable morning into a t-shirt design. The front features my favorite shot from the session, captured with a Canon 1DX MkII and an 85mm f/1.2. The back showcases 32 of my favorite images from that shoot. The location is completely blocked off now, which makes these photos truly one-of-a-kind, because it can never be recreated again.
